Senate set to reject gay marriage ban

"I don't believe there's any issue that's more important than this one," said Sen. David Vitter, a Louisiana Republican.

This comment just floors me. Really? Not ANY issue? NOTHING is more important than writing bigotry into the Constitution? War? Terrorism? Poverty? Crime? Gas prices? Not even global warming? Putting hate into the foundational document of our country is more important than all that?

Really, Senator? I mean, even aside my complete disagreement on the issue, how can you actually think it's MORE important than global warming? If the planet dies, you won't have a home to spew your hatred on. I'd wager that the Baby Jesus is a lot more upset over that than who gets married.

(How do people get their priorities so fucked up, anyway?)

Because all those other things are his party's fault. :) if he admits there's anything more important, he has to drop this "values" smokescreen and start actually dealing with problems!

Because if we *don't* write the bigotry into the Constitution, GOD will be mad at us and the world will end anyway, so global warming won't even matter.

So either way, we're screwed, and we might as well let people get married...
