erbie: (Oh No You Din't)
If there is one thing I want to teach my kids for the betterment of society, it's that the world does not revolve around them. I think a lot of the problems we see in the US are caused by people not being taught manners as children.

I'm sitting at the vet with one of my cats and a woman just came in with her very large, VERY friendly golden retriever . His leash was one of those retractable kinds and was not retracted. He walked right up to a woman sitting in the waiting room and got right in her face, panting. The owner didn't call him away or acknowledge it in any way. Then he walked over to the carrier my kitty was in and started sniffing at it, still panting, scaring the crap out of my poor guy. I said "Excuse me." No response. Louder "Excuse me! Will you please move your dog away from my cat. He's scaring him." She moved him away but didn't otherwise acknowledge that I had spoken. She might find it hard to believe that not everyone wants a large panting dog in their face. I think it's just plain rudeness. I wouldn't allow my child or my animal to get up in someone's face unless invited, and even then not a stranger. What the hell?
