How does this make sense, and how is it a good use of taxpayer money? Also, aren't prisoners entitled to having DNRs?

From CNN.com:

Having suffered a heart attack back in September, Allen had asked prison authorities to let him die if he went into cardiac arrest before his execution, a request prison officials said they would not honor.

"At no point are we not going to value the sanctity of life," said prison spokesman Vernell Crittendon. "We would resuscitate him," then execute him.

"At no point are we not going to value the sanctity of life"??? Does he hear himself speaking?

Babycenter.com's description of an ultrasound:

you haven't already, you'll probably have an ultrasound done sometime this trimester (usually between 16 and 20 weeks). This painless procedure helps your practitioner check how your baby's growing, screen for certain birth defects, check the placenta and umbilical cord, determine whether the due date you're working with is accurate, and see how many babies you're carrying.

Obviously, the person who wrote that has never had one. If they had, they'd know that having someone press as hard as they can with a cold plastic probe on your VERY full bladder, can not exactly be described as painless!
